During large-scale and risky humanitarian operations, servicemen of Ukraine's Security and Defense Forces used heavy "Vampire" bombers to deliver vital supplies to civilians in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky, Kherson region. This mission has become an unprecedented example of using strike unmanned aerial vehicles for peaceful purposes to rescue people isolated on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Preparation and Progress of the Humanitarian Operation

Published video footage captures the detailed preparation for the mission and the coordinated work of servicemen from the "Bolharychi" special purpose platoon of the National Guard of Ukraine. Using heavy hexacopters across the Dnipro River, sealed packages containing drinking water, food, medicines, and other critical supplies were transported. The weight of each individual cargo container was about 19 kilograms, requiring operators to demonstrate top-tier piloting skills amidst a complex electronic warfare environment.

Scale of Aid and Logistical Breakthrough

According to official data, Ukrainian defenders have already conducted at least two successful operations to deliver humanitarian aid to the residents of Oleshky. During the first wave, about 4 tons of food were transported to the occupied territory, and during the second, another 400 packages with essential items. In conditions where traditional ground logistics to the captured city are completely blocked by occupying forces, heavy drones remain virtually the only safe and effective channel of communication with the local population.

Combat Experience and Evolution of "Vampire" Deployment

It is worth noting that for "Vampire" hexacopters, this is far from their first rescue mission. Following the catastrophic Kakhovka HPP dam breach, these same drones were actively used to supply water and medicine to people cut off by floodwaters. Furthermore, front-line logistical support is carried out daily using these drones, which deliver ammunition, provisions, and equipment to positions. Notably, the Ukrainian strike hexacopter manufactured by SkyFall was recognized as the most effective asset under the state "Drone Army. Bonus" program at the end of 2025.
