Ukrainians who are officially employed in temporarily occupied territories or active combat zones can now terminate their employment remotely. A new public service in the Diia app allows them to do this completely online, eliminating the need to travel to employment centers or contact employers with whom communication has been lost.
Service Conditions and Required Documents
The service is available to adult citizens of Ukraine whose employment data is recorded in the Register of Insured Persons of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. To properly submit an application in the app, the taxpayer identification number (RNOKPP) and an identity document—an ID card or biometric passport—must be displayed and verified. If a citizen is officially employed by several employers in the TOT, a separate application must be submitted for each employer.
Submission Procedure and Automated Processing
The application submission process is simplified as much as possible for users facing difficult life circumstances. After submitting the form via the mobile app, the Obriy system automatically processes the request within one business day. The applicant receives a notification regarding the result directly in Diia. To resign from a legal entity, confirmation is also required that the employee does not hold an elected position at that enterprise.
Social and Economic Consequences for Citizens
The opportunity to officially terminate employment opens up new socio-economic prospects for citizens. Individuals who have lost contact with an enterprise due to occupation can now legally get a new job, obtain official unemployed status, receive state unemployment benefits, and undergo retraining or take advantage of opportunities to start their own business.
