The Ukrainian currency continues to face pressure from global currencies. The National Bank of Ukraine has recorded a new historical high for the US dollar exchange rate against the hryvnia. The official rate for Wednesday, June 3, was set at 44.34 hryvnias per dollar. Compared to the previous day, the national currency weakened by 4 kopecks. The previous record was broken just a few days ago, on May 28, when the rate reached 44.30 UAH/USD.
The euro is also rising in price
Things are not going well for the European currency either. According to the regulator, the official exchange rate for the euro on June 3 was 51.66 hryvnias per unit. This means that the hryvnia lost another 6 kopecks against the euro. On the interbank foreign exchange market, by 16:00, quotes stabilized at 44.32/44.35 UAH/USD and 51.64/51.67 UAH/EUR.
Situation in retail banks
For ordinary citizens planning to exchange currency, the situation in bank tellers looks as follows. On June 2, the average bank buying rate for the dollar remained unchanged at 44.47 hryvnias. However, the American currency could be sold at an average rate of 44.02 hryvnias.
The average exchange rate for the euro against the hryvnia in the retail sector rose by 5 kopecks, reaching 51.93 hryvnias per euro. The bank selling rate for the European currency was 51.23 hryvnias.
Quotes in "PrivatBank"
In the country's largest bank, "PrivatBank", the dynamics were also negative for the hryvnia. On June 2, the dollar buying rate increased by 3 kopecks to 44.48 hryvnias. The euro rate rose by 5 kopecks, reaching 52.00 hryvnias per unit. At the same time, currency could be sold in the bank for less: the dollar for 43.88 hryvnias, and the euro for 51.00 hryvnias.
