The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has approved the official exchange rates for foreign currencies for Friday, July 3, 2026. Monitoring of financial indicators showed that the national currency demonstrated signs of weakening against major global currencies. The regulator recorded an increase in the cost of the US dollar and the euro, which was a reaction to the current conjuncture of the interbank market.

Exchange rate dynamics: dollar and euro

According to the monetary committee data, the cost of the US dollar settled at 44.8016 hryvnias. This means that in one trading day, the hryvnia depreciated by 4 kopecks. The European currency showed more pronounced dynamics: the euro rate reached the mark of 51.0828 hryvnias, indicating a decrease in the national currency by 11 kopecks.

These changes reflect natural market fluctuations in supply and demand. In the interbank market, by the end of the trading day, quotes stabilized within a narrow corridor. Transactions for the purchase of US dollars were carried out at a price of 44.76 hryvnias, and for sale — at 44.81 hryvnias.

Stabilization mechanisms and macroeconomic background

The current situation in the foreign exchange market is developing within the framework of a managed floating exchange rate regime. This mechanism was introduced as part of a long-term strategy to ease currency restrictions. Under martial law, the National Bank continues to use currency intervention tools to compensate for the structural deficit of foreign currency.

The regulator maintains international reserves at a level necessary to ensure the country's financial stability. Representatives of the banking sector indicate that short-term fluctuations in the range of 5 to 15 kopecks are within the calculated volatility and do not create risks for the state's balance of payments.

Balance of supply and demand

The demand for currency from importers, in particular those engaged in purchasing energy carriers and consumer goods, remains balanced. This is ensured by the rhythmic inflow of external financial assistance from Ukraine's international partners.

Setting the official exchange rate is one of the key functions of the NBU Board, enshrined in Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Bank of Ukraine". Control over the implementation of monetary policy allows the regulator to promptly respond to changes in the economic environment.
