The investigation into the explosion in an elite district of Monaco, staged at the home of sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev, has taken an unexpected turn. Police have identified the suspect who left the deadly trap. It turned out that the perpetrator is a woman around 30 years old who intentionally disguised herself as a man.

Trap in Le Rocher

The tragedy occurred on the evening of June 29 in the prestigious residential district of Le Rocher. The perpetrator left a mined bag at the entrance to the house and fled. The explosion, which went off around 21:00, led to serious consequences: three people were injured. Vadim Ermolaev received extremely severe injuries, his companion Anna Nasobina is in critical condition — both of her legs were amputated. The businessman's 13-year-old son, who suffered less serious injuries, has already been able to give his first testimony to investigators.

Traces of disguise

48 hours after the terrorist act, the local judicial police tracked down the suspect. His whereabouts have been established in one of the European countries. According to BFMTV, the person who left the bomb is a woman. The investigation showed that she used a disguise to look like a man.

Le Figaro reports that the likely suspect is of Ukrainian origin. On the day of the explosion, she inspected the area several times. Shortly before 21:00, she noticed a Ukrainian family in the Place de Moulins area and began to follow them.

Course of the operation

The attack scenario was thought out to the smallest detail. The suspect got ahead of the victims and positioned herself about 10 meters ahead, heading towards the house. Climbing three steps in front of the entrance, she left the bag with explosives and hurriedly left the scene.

The perpetrator looked back to make sure the family was really entering the house. The 13-year-old boy entered first. The explosion was triggered remotely when Anna Nasobina passed by the bag. A gadget resembling a remote control was used to activate the explosive device.

Investigation versions

At the moment, law enforcement agencies are considering two main versions of the assassination attempt: a contract killing by organized crime or foreign interference. Investigators are also actively studying the possible involvement of the SBU in organizing the terrorist act.
