Russian armed forces made a new attempt to attack the Ukrainian coast using the tactics of unmanned sea attack boats. However, the enemy's operation failed: all hostile drones were detected and destroyed in open waters, never reaching the coastline.
The timely repulsion of the threat was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack was thwarted even before reaching the Kinburn Spit and Ochakiv, which are currently under enemy control.
Interception Location and Operation Details
Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov, advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and an expert in defense technologies, provided details of the incident. On the published map, a red square marks the area in the Black Sea south of the Kinburn Spit where the boats were intercepted.
According to the data, Ukrainian military personnel were able to neutralize the threat far from populated areas and critical infrastructure, preventing possible destruction.
Technological Aspect: Starlink on Enemy Drones
Particular interest lies in the technical components of the destroyed unmanned vehicles. Upon inspection of the debris, Starlink satellite communication terminals were found on the Russian boats.
"As I mentioned earlier, Starlink was installed on the destroyed boats because the enemy has no other long-range control systems," emphasized Sergey Beskrestnov. This confirms the dependence of Russian sea drones on Western satellite technologies for navigation and control over long distances.
Sequence of Attacks on Odesa
This incident is not an isolated case of attempts to breach maritime borders. On April 23, the occupiers already attempted to attack the Port of Odesa using an unmanned boat.
At that time, the Ukrainian Navy promptly detected the movement of a hostile drone towards one of the port facilities. The weapon was timely detected by surveillance forces and neutralized by Navy units, which continue to ensure the defense of the Black Sea waters.
The expert thanked all the military personnel involved in the operation for the effective protection of the country's maritime borders.
