Apple has officially moved to the active testing phase of the second beta versions of its flagship operating systems: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. The update released for developers brings not just cosmetic changes, but fundamental shifts in the architecture of interaction with the voice assistant and cross-platform device connectivity.
Revolution in text input: Write with Siri
The main innovation in iOS 27 beta 2 is the launch of the Write with Siri tool. This solution radically changes the approach to working with text on mobile devices, completely replacing the previous AI-editing context menu, Writing Tools.
Now, when activating any text field on iPhone and iPad, the interface changes: a wide suggestion bar appears directly above the virtual keyboard. It offers the user to use the chatbot for generating or editing text. If the user decides to write manually, this element automatically collapses, transforming into a compact Siri icon, freeing up screen space.
Evolution of the voice assistant
Other Siri features will be rolled out gradually, but developers have already increased the processing speed of local requests. The interface now includes "coming soon" labels for several advanced elements, specifically for the Expressive Voice function, which handles the emotional coloring of synthesized speech.
Enhanced RCS protocol and message security
Significant attention in the new build is paid to improving the cross-platform RCS messaging protocol in the standard Messages app. Over the past few months, Apple has steadily strengthened security and interaction between native iMessage and third-party devices, and the current beta version solidifies this trend, making the messenger more universal and secure.

Alongside the mobile OS updates, engineers have released an update for the desktop system macOS Golden Gate (beta 2). The key point was the optimization of the iPhone Mirroring (screen mirroring) feature. Developers fixed critical crashes and freezes that plagued users of the first test build, ensuring smooth operation of the phone via Mac.
Additionally, the fresh update contains an important utility patch. Now, AirPods Max 2 wireless headphones can correctly receive and install new versions of firmware, which was previously impossible without system updates.
