At the recent WWDC conference, Apple officially introduced iOS 27 — an operating system that radically changes the approach to device interaction. The main focus of the update is on the development of the Apple Intelligence platform, deep integration of Google Gemini models, and the emergence of smart tools for working with images.

Siri AI: New Intelligence Based on Google Gemini

The most significant technological shift was the presentation of the next-generation Siri, officially named Siri AI. The assistant is now based on custom Google Gemini models, but Apple guarantees privacy: all computations involving personal data are performed using Private Cloud Compute technology.

The new version of the assistant has learned to work with deep personal context. Siri AI analyzes information within apps — Messages, Calendar, Mail, Music. Now you can ask to find "that specific song a friend sent a few weeks ago," and the system will independently locate the necessary link in the chats.

The assistant has received a separate app with a ChatGPT-style interface. Users will be able to view dialogue history and flexibly configure the assistant's voice or communication style. Visually, Siri is now integrated into the Dynamic Island, and thanks to new models, dictation accuracy and live speech understanding have significantly improved.

Revolution in the "Photos" App

The "Photos" app has received three new AI tools for image processing that significantly expand editing capabilities:

  • Clean Up: the tool has become significantly more accurate in recognizing and removing unnecessary objects or people from the background without distorting the overall look of the photo.
  • Expand: allows "painting" the background around the shot, for example, easily turning a vertical portrait into a horizontal landscape.
  • Spatial Reframing: using spatial computing technologies, this function allows you to change the angle at which the shot was taken, center it, and reconstruct missing background details.

Interface and Performance

Apple has responded to user criticism regarding the Liquid Glass interface, which debuted last year. In iOS 27, a special slider has appeared in settings: now you can independently adjust the level of screen transparency and blur from fully transparent to darkened. App icons have become sharper and gained additional layers of detail.

Developers have optimized the CPU Scheduler, which will have a positive effect even on older iPhone models. Thanks to this:

  • apps launch 30% faster;
  • photos just taken appear in the gallery 70% faster;
  • file transfer speed via AirDrop has increased by 80%.

Smart Features and Security

Among other technological solutions, smart traffic management stands out: if you are sending a series of heavy media files in poor connection conditions, the system will automatically prioritize text messages so that the dialogue is not interrupted.

Voice shortcuts have appeared in the Shortcuts app: creating complex commands can now be done using a simple description. Just say: "Send notifications to my relatives every time I leave work," and the AI will set up the entire chain of actions itself.

The Passwords app has learned to log in to websites and change passwords on its own if the system detects that they were compromised during data leaks. The Safari browser has received a function to sort open pages by topic, as well as the ability to ask Siri to monitor a specific site — for example, the system will send a notification if concert tickets appear or hotel prices change.
