Diplomatic dialogue between Iran and the United States, which was conducted through intermediaries, has been officially suspended. Tehran announced the decision to cease the exchange of messages against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of hostilities in Lebanon. Iranian authorities stated that the continuation of Israel's "crimes" has made further discussion of security issues in the current format impossible.

Severance of diplomatic contacts

According to the Tasnim news agency, the Iranian negotiating group decided to pause the dialogue, citing violations of the conditions that originally formed the basis of the ceasefire idea. The key factor was the deterioration of the situation in Lebanon, which, according to Tehran, is one of the main prerequisites for regional stabilization. Iranian officials emphasized that until an immediate cessation of "aggressive and barbaric operations" by the Israeli army in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the complete withdrawal of troops from occupied territories, is ensured, no negotiations will take place.

Threat of opening new fronts

In response to the intensification of hostilities, the Iranian military and allied "Resistance Front" groups declared their determination to respond to Israel's actions. The agenda included a discussion of the possibility of opening new fronts and conducting large-scale operations. In particular, Tehran and its allies did not rule out a complete blockade of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, as well as an intensification of activities in the area of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Negotiation background and Washington pressure

Earlier, media reported that Iran and the US allegedly approached a framework agreement. The draft document provided for a 60-day ceasefire, the restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and the resumption of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. However, US President Donald Trump increased pressure on Tehran, stating his readiness to resume strikes in the event of non-compliance with Washington's demands. The key conditions from the US remain the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's renunciation of the development of nuclear weapons.
