On October 13, news emerged about a tragedy in the family of singer Iryna Fedyshyn, as the artist lost her newborn daughter. A few days later, the performer publicly shared her grief for the first time on Instagram, a post highlighted by the Wave RBC.UA publication. In her message, Fedyshyn shared that she was unable to see the baby immediately after birth, described the condition of her husband Vitaliy Chovnyk, and responded to critics who discussed her pregnancy and speculated about the causes of the tragedy.

"Unable to hold her to my chest"

According to the singer, she was under anesthesia at the moment of her daughter's birth and could not hold the child close. The artist only learned what the girl looked like from a photograph taken by her husband, Vitaliy Chovnyk. "And she looked so much like him — dark-skinned, with dark hair, a small nose, and plump lips. Such a beauty — 48 cm tall, weighing 2,600 grams," Iryna wrote. The couple named their daughter Veronika, a name that, according to the artist, holds special meaning for the family: according to Christian tradition, Saint Veronika wiped the face of Jesus Christ with a handkerchief as he carried the cross to Golgotha.

"Heavenly Angel"

Fedyshyn stated that she considers little Veronika her "heavenly angel," who, in her words, "will be in the arms of the Lord" and perhaps "sing the best songs for Him." She also described the anguish of her husband, who, she noted, faced multiple trials at once — both the loss of their long-awaited daughter and the moments when Iryna's life hung in the balance. "Through tears, he thanks God over and over again for keeping me alive," the singer shared. It was Vitaliy, she said, who had to find the strength within himself to lay little Veronika to rest in a quiet family circle.

"Happiness does not become a mistake"

The artist also addressed those who discussed her pregnancy and put forward their own theories regarding the causes of the tragedy. Fedyshyn emphasized that she does not regret her decision to share her family's happiness: "Because happiness does not become a mistake just because pain followed it." She urged people not to look for the causes of what happened in photographs, other people's words, glances, or superstitions, noting that true faith is trusting God even when a person cannot understand why they must endure such trials. "I believed in God in the happiest moments of my life and I continue to believe today, when my heart is breaking with pain," the performer wrote.

Words to parents who have experienced loss

Fedyshyn shared that she received thousands of messages from women who had also lost children, including public figures who shared their personal stories. In her post, she addressed parents who have gone through similar grief, urging them not to be afraid to cry, to remember their children, and to return to the joy of life when they have the strength: "Our children remain our children forever. Even if their earthly journey was so short." The singer thanked her family, friends, and priests who prayed for her family, noting that her strength is gradually returning — she is able to embrace her husband, two sons, and parents. In conclusion, she added that there are still many painful moments in their story related to that "dreadful night," and she hopes to share what she went through in due time.
