Ukrainian singer Kamaliya commented on the resonant scandal that erupted around chef Olga Martynovska following an interview with Maria Efrosinina. In an exclusive comment to RBC-Ukraine, the artist expressed her opinion on the story that triggered a wave of criticism on social media.

«This is not a reason to boast»

Kamaliya admitted that she learned about the details of the incident for the first time from the journalist. The singer emphasized that such stories should not be presented as a reason for pride or entertainment.

«I am hearing about this from you for the first time. But I do not think it is something to boast about», — the performer noted.

Psychological aspect of the problem

Specializing in the study of psychology, Kamaliya linked the described actions to serious deviations in personality development. According to her, cruelty to animals in childhood is an alarming signal indicating a lack of empathy.

«Psychology explains that when a child tortures an animal, it can be the first sign of psychopathy. This means that they may lack empathy», — the singer stated.

Kamaliya insists that such manifestations cannot be dismissed as ordinary childish pranks or perceived as a reason for jokes. In the artist's opinion, the lack of compassion for living creatures is a pathology and a diagnosis of personality development.

Chronology of the scandal

The situation escalated after Olga Martynovska told Maria Efrosinina in an interview how, as a child, she allegedly threw cats over a building and tied firecrackers to their tails. Viewers noticed not only the content of the story but also Martynovska's smile during the narrative, as well as the host's laughter.

In response to the mass outrage, Maria Efrosinina stated that the guest's words were an «unfortunate hyperbole» rather than real memories. The episode was removed from the final version of the interview. Later, Martynovska herself apologized, explaining the situation as a confusion of her own memories with the image of a «fierce woman».

Star PR manager Alena Garmash noted that the chef's main mistake lay in her initial reaction to the scandal. The expert believes that society can distinguish between formal apologies and sincere realization of guilt, and it was precisely the wrong reaction that exacerbated the reputational crisis.
