Ukrainian actress Kateryna Tyshkevych has become a mother for the first time. On October 28, 2026, her son Daniel was born at a maternity hospital in Vinnytsia. Following the delivery, the celebrity hosted a live broadcast on Instagram where she answered followers' questions and explained in detail why the delivery method was chosen in advance, as well as how she is feeling in the first days after the operation. Her husband, actor Valentyn Tomusiak, was by her side in the hospital room.
Why a C-Section Was the Only Option
Answering followers' questions, Tyshkevych explained that the decision for a planned C-section was made at the beginning of her pregnancy together with her attending physicians. The reason was her diagnosis of chronic tension headaches. According to the actress, natural childbirth with contractions and pushing could have significantly intensified the pain syndrome to the extent that she would not have been able to care for the newborn. «The doctors and I determined back at the beginning of pregnancy that in my case this is a contraindication for labor activity», she explained on the broadcast.
Fighting Chronic Pain: A Years-Long Journey
The problem of chronic headaches has accompanied Tyshkevych for many years. The first attacks, she says, began around the age of 20. The pain intensified during stress and hormonal changes, and in severe periods reached 9–10 points on a ten-point scale. In March 2024, after extensive examinations, she was given a probable diagnosis of chronic somatoform pain disorder, or persistent chronic tension headache. One of the hardest trials was a sharp deterioration in health in December 2023: after hospital treatment, the actress developed sepsis caused by a staphylococcal infection. She spent three days in intensive care and was in a coma. In May 2025, Tyshkevych reported positive dynamics and the possibility of stopping some medications, but by July 2026, while already pregnant, she admitted that headaches still bothered her and the possibilities of medical treatment were limited due to expecting a child.
The First Hours After Surgery and Family Support
Speaking about her well-being after delivery, the actress admitted that the first hours were not easy. «Well, not wow, of course, girls. But the first evening was really heavy. And today it's already much easier», she shared with her followers. Tyshkevych's parents specifically traveled from Odesa for the planned C-section to support their daughter during the first days. «They are with us in the room from morning till evening, so we can rest during the day, and at night we rock the little one together», the actress said, referring to herself and Valentyn Tomusiak.
Family Context: From Autumn Photos to Meeting Their Firstborn
Ahead of their son's birth, the actor couple Tomusiak and Tyshkevych shared warm autumn pictures with fans, capturing the final days before meeting the baby. Now there is a new addition to the family — and, judging by Kateryna's words, the couple faces a period of adaptation to their new role as parents, which they intend to navigate together, relying on the support of loved ones.
