The security situation in the Kherson region requires immediate and strict measures. Regional authorities have decided to significantly expand the territory whose residents are subject to mandatory evacuation. This is a response to the expansion of the geography of Russian shelling and the growing threat to the civilian population.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA) Oleksandr Prokudin, the decision was made by the region's Defense Council after a detailed analysis of the situation in the communities that are attacked daily.

New territories in the risk zone

Special attention was paid during the meeting to the Kherson, Novovorontsovka, and Beryslav communities. It is here that the threat of being hit is highest. The list of settlements subject to mandatory resettlement includes:

  • Settlements of the Khrещenivka starosty district;
  • Charivne village;
  • Zelenivka settlement;
  • The "Textile" microdistrict in Kherson.

Also subject to mandatory evacuation are certain streets in the Central, Korabelny, and Dniprovyi districts of Kherson. Specifically, this refers to Universytetska, Teatralna, Bihorusska, and Komunalna streets, as well as streets and alleys located in the direction of the Kosheva and Dnipro rivers.

Ban on entry for families with children

Authorities have made an unprecedented decision: entry of families with children is prohibited in areas where mandatory evacuation is introduced. This measure is dictated by the critically high threat to the life and health of minors in conditions of constant shelling.

Earlier in Ukraine, the procedure for the mandatory evacuation of children from combat zones without parental accompaniment was already approved. The new mechanism provides for the safe removal of minors from dangerous areas and their temporary placement in safe regions of the country.

Measures to protect infrastructure and the population

The Defense Council agreed on a number of additional steps to minimize the consequences of attacks:

  • Purchase and installation of mobile shelters on the most dangerous sections of highways;
  • Acquisition of additional protective equipment for critical infrastructure;
  • Major repair of a shelter in one of the educational institutions;
  • Reconstruction of equipment in a hospital to increase its resilience.

Adjustment of transport and gas station operations

During the meeting, issues related to logistics and population supply in wartime conditions were also discussed. Public transport routes were adjusted taking into account the operational situation: some routes will be shortened.

Separately, the safety of suburban passenger transport and the operation of gas stations, which regularly become targets for Russian drones and missile strikes, were discussed. In addition, authorities agreed to purchase material and technical resources for the needs of the Defense Forces.

The agenda also included issues of the mobilization campaign and the work of military-medical commissions, in the discussion of which representatives of the regional Territorial Recruitment and Mobilization Center (TRMC), the National Police, and the Department of Health participated.
