Ukrainian boxer Alexander Khizhnyak, Tokyo-2020 Olympic champion, commented on his latest victory in the professional ring. The fight took place as part of a major boxing event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and ended with an early victory for the Ukrainian.
Support from the World Champion
In an interview with the official website of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine, Khizhnyak talked about the backstage of the tournament and admitted that an important role in organizing the fight was played by Oleksandr Usyk's team and Usyk 17 Promotions. According to the boxer, Usyk personally came to his locker room before he went into the ring, gave him moral support and showed attention throughout the evening.
"He is not only a great champion for me, but also a sincere, close person. I am grateful to him for his support, help, humanity and loyalty," Khizhnyak emphasized.
Sympathy for Joshua and a prediction from the opponent
Khizhnyak also shared his impressions of other fights of the evening. He admitted that he was rooting for Anthony Joshua in his fight and expressed sympathy for AJ in a potential confrontation with Tyson Fury.
Despite the fact that the fight with Lenny Patracea ended quickly, the Ukrainian champion gave credit to the opponent's experience. After the fight, Patracea personally wrote to Khizhnyak on social media, thanking him for the fight and making a bold prediction: "In less than two years you will become a world champion".
Return to Poltava and new goals
Now Alexander Khizhnyak has already returned to his native Poltava and has resumed the training process with almost no rest. The boxer is confident that together with a strong team he will be able to go to a fight for a full-fledged world championship title in the professionals in the near future.
