North Korea conducted large-scale tests of the combat system of the new destroyer "Kan Geon," equipped with strategic cruise missiles. This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The country's leader, Kim Jong Un, personally attended the exercises, observing the course of the test launches.
Comprehensive check of combat capabilities
During the tests, military specialists demonstrated a wide range of the ship's capabilities. The crew launched cruise missiles and also conducted comprehensive checks of the ship's artillery. Special attention was paid to testing electronic warfare systems and the effectiveness of target detection.
According to official data, all planned stages of the inspection were successful. After the exercises were completed, Kim Jong Un issued a directive to complete the final checks and commission the ship into the North Korean Navy within the next two months.
Strengthening the fleet and nuclear potential
The destroyer "Kan Geon" is not the first major addition to Pyongyang's fleet. Earlier, North Korea officially commissioned the 5,000-ton destroyer "Choe Hyon." Kim Jong Un then called this ship a symbol of the country's Navy turning into a strategic nuclear force.
In parallel with the development of the fleet, the North Korean leader is paying attention to increasing nuclear potential. Recently, he visited a new plant for the production of nuclear materials, ordering the expansion of production at "exponential rates." In addition, Pyongyang tested new launch systems for multi-purpose light missiles and tactical cruise missiles operating on the basis of artificial intelligence.
