Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has transferred a new batch of unmanned aerial vehicles to the soldiers of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. The head of the capital announced this on his Telegram channel, and RBC-Ukraine reported the delivery details. According to Klitschko, this is "vital assistance" directed straight to the frontline from the capital's community.
Composition of the Supply: FPVs, Matrice 4Ts, and Interceptors
The transferred batch included 4,370 FPV drones of various types, 165 Matrice 4T night drones, and 420 interceptor drones. Thus, the total number of UAVs transferred is 5,955 units. FPV drones are primarily used for precision strikes against enemy positions, Matrice 4T drones are used for nighttime reconnaissance, and interceptors are designed to counter enemy unmanned vehicles. This combination reflects a comprehensive approach to equipping the brigade with UAV support means.
Over 62,000 UAVs Since the Beginning of the Year
Klitschko emphasized that since the beginning of the current year, the Kyiv community has sent a total of over 62,000 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types to the military of various brigades. The mayor stated that "the capital will continue to help our defenders," confirming the systemic nature of the city's support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier This Month — 5,800 UAVs to the Kharkiv Direction
Even before this delivery, earlier in October, Klitschko personally brought 5,800 unmanned aerial vehicles to the Third Army Corps in the Kharkiv direction. This indicates that the city administration distributes equipment among multiple directions and formations simultaneously rather than concentrating it in a single sector of the frontline.
Kyiv City Council Increases Aid Budget by UAH 1.6 Billion
In October, the Kyiv City Council supported Vitali Klitschko's initiative and voted to increase assistance to the Security and Defense Forces from the city budget by another 1.6 billion hryvnias. This decision provides the financial foundation for continued procurement and transfer of equipment, including drones, throughout 2026.
Context: The 72nd Black Zaporozhians Brigade
The 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians (Black Brigade) is a formation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine whose flag depicting a skull on a red-and-black shield and the motto "Ukraine or Death" is well known in Ukrainian military circles. The transfer of such a large batch of drones to a single formation underscores the priority of equipping brigades directly engaged on the frontline with UAV support means.
