Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv has confirmed its status as the country's leading scientific and educational center. Based on the monitoring of data for April 2026, the university took first place not only among Kyiv universities but also in the all-Ukrainian Scopus ranking.
This information was confirmed by RBK-Ukraine, citing current data published on the educational portal «Osvita.ua». Experts note that the results are based on a rigorous analysis of scientific productivity.
How the ranking is formed
The main criterion for ranking universities was the H-index. This indicator is calculated based on two key parameters: the total number of scientific publications and the frequency of their citation by other researchers. It is precisely this approach that allows for an objective assessment of the university's contribution to global science.
The Scopus database, used for the analysis, indexes more than 30,000 scientific publications daily. The scale of coverage makes this ranking one of the most authoritative tools for evaluating the activities of higher education institutions.
Scientific activity in Kyiv
The results of 2026 demonstrate the high competitiveness of Kyiv universities. Kyiv universities show stable results in the field of scientific citation and publication activity, maintaining leading positions at the national level.
Previously, full lists of the best universities according to Scopus indicators for the current year were published. Experts also recommend that applicants pay attention to the ranking of universities with the highest admission scores, where the passing threshold is 140 points and above.
