Lviv's Karpaty defeated Kovel's Kolos 2:0 in the sixth round of the Ukrainian Premier League and climbed back to first place in the standings. Fran Fernandez's side settled the matter before the break, scoring both goals in the first half and leaving the hosts with no real chance to turn the game around.
First half: two goals in ten minutes
As early as the 9th minute, Rusin won the ball from Kozik on the flank, cut into the box and fired a powerful shot under the crossbar to open the scoring. Ten minutes later, the same Rusin delivered a pass to Vantus, who switched it to Seri — the French striker doubled the "green-and-white" side's lead on his second attempt, after the first effort hit the post. Before the break, Chachuа could have made it a rout, but he struck the frame.
Second half: Kolos kept alive by their goalkeeper
In the second half the visitors continued to create chances. Rusin hit the post after a flashy dribble, while the home keeper Morgun saved his team several times after dangerous runs by Felipe and Sifuentes. The final whistle confirmed Karpaty's confident away win — 2:0.
The best start in the history of the top flight for the Lviv side
With this win, the Lviv club have 13 points from six rounds — the best start in the top division in the club's history, which puts Karpaty at the top of the UPL table. Kolos, by contrast, remain in second-from-bottom with two points.
