Comment from the Mayor of Kremenchuk
The attack was simultaneously confirmed by Kremenchuk Mayor Vitaliy Maletsky. He noted that the target was a facility where students were still studying during the day on October 20. «This is further proof that nothing is sacred to the enemy. Russia once again demonstrates that strikes on civilian infrastructure, threats to the lives of civilians, and terror are conscious methods of its war of conquest,» the mayor emphasized.
Context: previous strikes on the city
Kremenchuk has been subjected to attacks before. On the night of October 7 and the morning of the same day, Russians struck the city with missiles and drones: as a result, multi-story residential buildings were damaged, and a direct hit on an enterprise was recorded. Earlier, on September 4, the Kremenchuk district was hit, damaging private houses and cars. Thus, the incident on October 20 became another episode in a series of attacks on the city and its surroundings.
Parallel strikes on other regions
According to Ukrainian media, on October 20, strikes were also carried out in other directions. In particular, the Russian army attacked an energy infrastructure facility in Kyiv, leaving parts of the Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Pecherskyi districts of the capital temporarily without electricity. Also on this day in Kyiv, an enemy drone hit a medical facility in the Solomianskyi district, and debris fell on another hospital building in the Holosiyivskyi district; according to TSN, five people were injured in the capital as a result of the attacks.
