On Thursday, June 11, Kyiv drivers will face changes in traffic organization in the area of one of the capital's key transport hubs — the Metro Bridge. From 10:00 AM, there will be partial traffic restrictions on the ramp leading to the Naberzhne Highway interchange.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (Kyiv City Council) citing the municipal corporation "Kyivavtodor". Restrictions have been introduced in the Pechersk district, where specialists from the Road Maintenance Department (RMD) will carry out repairs of the wheel stop belt.

What will change for drivers?

During the work, traffic will be restricted to one lane. This will affect the ramp leading to the Naberzhne Highway interchange — from the Metro Bridge. Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance and account for possible delays.

According to the official scheme published on the kyivcity.gov.ua website, the restriction zone is clearly marked and does not affect the main highways, however, it requires caution when entering the interchange.

Historical significance of the Metro Bridge

The Metro Bridge is not just a transport object, but an engineering monument of the Soviet era. It became the first arched structure in the world with large spans designed on dry joints: concrete elements were connected by bolted connections without the use of adhesives. Such a structure was experimental and was used in only a few bridges throughout the USSR.

The Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska ("red") line of the Kyiv Metro runs over the bridge. On the right bank of the Dnipro River, it ends at the "Dnipro" station. The Metro Bridge, together with the Rusana Bridge, connects the right-bank part of the city with the Left Bank area, Rusankova, Voskresenka, Lesnoy district, and the recreation area — Hydro Park.

Context: repair works in Kyiv

The repair of the wheel stop belt is part of a broader program for the maintenance of roads and structures in the capital. Earlier, "Kyivavtodor" had already reported plans to repair numerous roads and bridges in 2025. It is also known that on Beresteisky Avenue, one of the bridges is partially closed to pedestrians until autumn — another reminder of the large-scale works in the city.

Drivers should remember that even local repairs can affect the overall traffic situation. Especially during rush hour. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the latest announcements from the Kyiv City Council and use navigation apps to avoid traffic jams.
