On the morning of September 15, 2026, Russian armed forces struck Kyiv using unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Kyiv Police Communications Department, the attack damaged facilities in four districts of the capital — Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Solomianskyi. Among the damaged buildings were two gas stations, warehouse premises, a fast-food restaurant, and a business center. Law enforcement published photos of the aftermath, showing shattered facade windows and glass debris on the surrounding area, as well as a cordon marked with red-and-white warning tape.
McDonald's confirms damage and resumes operations
The police did not name the specific establishment in their official statement, however the published photos allowed the damaged restaurant to be identified as McDonald's. The company's press office confirmed that the restaurant at 8 Mykola Bazhan Avenue in the Darnytskyi district sustained minor damage as a result of a nearby strike. In particular, the facade windows were shattered. At the time of the attack the establishment was not operating, and all staff were in a shelter, so no one was injured. By 12:25 McDonald's had already resumed operations, the company told RBC-Ukraine.
Fifth attack on a Ukrnafta gas station in a short period
Bogdan Kukura, chairman of the board of Ukrnafta JSC, stated that during the morning attack on September 15 the company's gas stations in Kyiv were again damaged. According to him, this is already the fifth attack on the network's gas stations in a short period. Stations on both the left and right banks of the capital — in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts — were hit. At the time of the attack the gas stations were not operating due to the active air-raid alert, staff were in shelters, and there were no customers on the premises. Naftogaz also confirmed the new strikes on fuel infrastructure facilities in Kyiv.
Casualties and injuries
As a result of the morning attack, a man was killed in the Darnytskyi district; he was located near one of the damaged gas stations. In addition, eight more people in the capital were injured. The exact circumstances of the death and the nature of the injuries are being clarified at the time of publication. Police, rescue workers, medics, and other specialized services are working at the incident sites, documenting the aftermath of the Russian strike.
