Tuesday, June 23, began with unpleasant news for Kyiv drivers: restrictions have been introduced on one of the popular transport arteries in the Podil district. Nyzhniy Val Street, connecting the historic Podil with the Ploskyi district and the Cable-stayed Bridge, is partially closed to traffic.
This is reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCCA). The information is confirmed by the municipal corporation "Kyivavtodor." Since morning, specialists from the Road Operation and Maintenance Department (DPU) of the Podil district have begun repair work on this section.
Geography of Restrictions
Nyzhniy Val Street is an important part of the transport infrastructure of the southern part of the capital. It runs along the bed of the vanished Hlybochitsia (Hlubochitsia) river, now diverted into a collector, and is separated from the parallel Verkhniy Val Street by a wide boulevard alley.
The road connects Hlybochitska Street with Naberezhno-Kreshchatytska and is a key route for those crossing the river via the Cable-stayed Bridge. Restrictions will affect drivers planning to pass through this section, as well as those using streets adjacent to Verkhniy Val: Lukianivska, Morna, Zhitnatorzhna, Konstantynivska, Mezhyhirska, Volosha, and Pochainivska.
Context of Road Works in the City
The repair of Nyzhniy Val is just one of many infrastructure measures being implemented in Kyiv this year. The city authorities are actively engaged in updating bridge crossings and roads.
Recall that earlier reports mentioned extensive work on the Southern Bridge, which will be partially closed for five months. Pedestrians should also note that one of the bridges on Beresteiskyi Avenue is restricted for passage until autumn.
"Kyivavtodor" continues to implement the plan for repairing capital roads, and this year many key highways are on the list for updates. Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance and follow the current traffic schemes published on the official portal kyivcity.gov.ua.
