Bad weather in Kyiv shows no signs of abating. On the evening of June 8, a warning about dangerous meteorological phenomena was issued in the capital, and according to forecasts, rainy weather will linger over the city until the night of June 9.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has introduced the first, "yellow," danger level for Kyiv. Meteorologists warn that significant precipitation is expected until the end of the current day and will continue during the night hours.
Consequences for the city and transport
Heavy rains bring a number of risks for urban infrastructure. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center noted that intense precipitation could complicate the work of energy, construction, and utility enterprises. Additionally, due to worsening weather conditions, difficulties with traffic movement on the capital's roads are possible.
Forecast for the coming days
Rainy weather will not be limited to just this night. According to meteorologist Natalka Didenko, rain will also fall periodically in Kyiv on June 9 due to the influence of an atmospheric front.
Overall, in the coming days, wet weather with periodic precipitation will prevail in Ukraine. At the same time, the air will remain quite warm. In the south and east of the country, it is expected to be hot and stuffy in some places due to high humidity.
June climate background
Meteorologists also reported on long-term trends. June 2026 in Ukraine is expected to be warmer than the climate norm. The average monthly temperature is forecast to be 1.5°C higher than usual, while the amount of precipitation should remain within normal limits.
Previously, experts warned about active thunderstorm processes, hail, and squalls, which are characteristic of the first month of summer.
