One of Ukraine's largest telecommunications operators, Kyivstar, has announced a major restructuring of financial services for its subscribers. The company has decided to abandon outdated account top-up methods to focus on modern digital solutions.
The end of the 'Mobile Payment' era
According to an official statement from the operator's press service, the 'Mobile Payment' service will cease to operate from July 1, 2026. This decision resulted from an internal data analysis: the company concluded that this payment method is no longer relevant for the majority of users.
Kyivstar notes that subscribers are increasingly choosing more convenient and modern digital services to manage their finances. The transition to new standards will allow the operator to optimize processes and provide customers with more effective tools.
How to top up your account without commission now
Despite the closure of one payment channel, the operator guarantees that account top-ups will remain accessible and free. Subscribers are offered alternative options that are already integrated into the company's ecosystem.
Special attention in the press release is paid to the 'Top up my account' function. This service is automatically provided to all users and allows them to solve the problem of insufficient funds with the help of friends or relatives.
How the new service works
The request procedure for a top-up is simple and does not require visiting communication salons or using banking apps. To initiate a transfer, the subscriber simply needs to dial the USSD command *132*380XXXXXXXXXX# (where XXXXXXXXXXX is the recipient's number).
After sending the command, the friend or relative's phone will receive an SMS message requesting a top-up. This solution allows you to quickly resolve the balance issue using trusted contacts.
Previously, the media discussed the possible increase of tariffs in Kyivstar, as well as the prospects for the existence of national roaming during peacetime. The cancellation of 'Mobile Payment' becomes another step in the evolution of the operator's services, adapting to the changing needs of the market.
