The Ukrainian labor market, particularly in the military service sector, is experiencing complex and contradictory dynamics. According to research data from the OLX Work platform, published by RBC-Ukraine, the number of vacancies in the "Service in the Defense Forces" category has nearly doubled over the past year. However, this surge in demand for personnel is accompanied by a general decline in interest from candidates.

Record Growth in Demand for Personnel

As of June 2026, the number of job offers in law enforcement and military structures increased by 95% compared to the same period last year. This indicates a massive need to replenish ranks and expand the staff.

The geographical distribution of vacancies is uneven. The Dnipropetrovsk region became the leader in the number of posted ads, where their number increased by 74% over the year. The Kyiv region took second place in terms of demand volume with a 50% increase.

Shift in Requirement Profiles

Significant changes have also occurred in the requirements for candidates. There has been a sharp increase in the demand for people without prior military service experience. Over the year, the number of such offers increased by 139%. This indicates that recruitment is shifting towards mass hiring, where trainability is more important than the presence of previous skills.

At the same time, an analysis of search queries shows that job seekers show the greatest interest in specialized positions. At the top of the search are vacancies related to technology, administrative work, and medicine. Users are also actively looking for offers for women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as vacancies for service in specific brigades.

Decline in Candidate Activity

Despite the abundance of offers, the labor market's reaction was restrained. Overall in Ukraine, the number of responses to vacancies in the defense sector decreased by 40% compared to June 2025. This creates a gap between the needs of the command and the willingness of citizens to respond to the call through online platforms.

However, there are exceptions here as well. In four regions, candidate interest, on the contrary, grew. The leader in terms of activity growth was the Chernivtsi region, where the number of responses increased by 79%.

The most dramatic drop in interest was recorded in the Zhytomyr region (-72%), while the smallest decline was observed in the Cherkasy region (-23%).

Recruitment Trends

Experts note that the search for candidates in the Defense Forces has become more active and systematic. The growth of vacancies for people without experience confirms the course on expanding the mobilization resource. At the same time, the importance of a professional approach is maintained: it was previously reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have opened vacancies for candidates aged 45-50+ and older, as well as for specialists with civilian experience in logistics, repair, or management.

Voluntary application and selection of service by specialty remain key factors that increase a candidate's chances of getting the appropriate position. Statistics also show that men over 60 years old continue to sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, contributing to the country's defense.
