On Monday, June 29, a tragic event occurred in Lviv: lightning struck a 6-year-old girl. The child was urgently hospitalized and is currently in intensive care under close medical supervision.
According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the condition of the injured child is assessed as stable. The mayor stated that there are no visible signs of injury on the girl's body, however, medical monitoring remains necessary.
Storm destroys city infrastructure
The incident involving the child occurred against the backdrop of a powerful storm that swept across western Ukraine. The bad weather has already caused serious disruptions in public transport and damaged city infrastructure. Rescue services and municipal workers have been placed on high alert to clear up the aftermath of the natural disaster.
According to city hall data, the storm has left a noticeable mark in various parts of the city:
- Trees fell on Kopernika and Yefremova streets.
- In Franko Park, a fallen tree damaged a trolleybus.
- Near St. George's Cathedral, a tree damaged the overhead contact line.
Weather warning: Yellow danger level
The weather situation remains tense. Meteorologists warn that difficult weather conditions are expected not only in Lviv but also in several other regions of Ukraine from June 29 to 30. Thunderstorms, heavy rain, local hail, and gusty winds are forecast for the western, northern, and central regions, as well as in Kyiv.
In this regard, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has declared a Level 1 danger (yellow). Specialists predict that the bad weather could lead to complications in the work of energy, utility, and construction services, as well as significantly affect traffic.
