A storm has struck the Volyn region, affecting the health of seven people. The tragedy was caused by a lightning strike near a body of water in the village of Ozero in the Kiverets district. The incident occurred in front of witnesses while a group of people were in close proximity to the water during a thunderstorm.
Incident details and assistance to the injured
According to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Volyn region, the lightning strike caused seven people to lose consciousness. Among the victims are four minors. Law enforcement officers and ambulance crews promptly arrived at the scene of the emergency. Police officers assisted medical personnel in transporting the injured into vehicles, after which all were hospitalized for necessary medical care.
Damage from bad weather in other districts
Extreme weather conditions also affected neighboring territories. In the Lutsk and Kovel districts, gusty winds and thunderstorms caused material damage. Law enforcement agencies recorded damage to residential buildings and vehicles caused by the storm.
Safety during thunderstorms
In connection with the deteriorating weather situation, citizens are strongly advised to refrain from traveling and staying outdoors. Experts and rescuers remind everyone of the critically important safety rules during a thunderstorm:
- It is forbidden to take shelter under isolated trees, near power lines, billboards, or metal structures.
- When near bodies of water, it is necessary to immediately leave the shoreline and find a safe shelter.
- Drivers should be extremely attentive, observe safe speed and distance.

The weather situation remains tense across the country. Meteorologists forecast difficult conditions on June 29–30 in several regions of Ukraine. Thunderstorms, heavy rains, locally hail, and strong wind gusts are expected in the western, northern, and central regions, as well as in Kyiv.
Recall that today in Lviv, there was also an incident involving lightning: a discharge hit a 6-year-old girl. The child was urgently hospitalized in intensive care; at the moment, her condition is assessed as stable.
