The Chernihiv football club LNZ is preparing for its historic debut in European competitions. On the eve of the match against Belgian 'Gent', the team's defender Roman Didyk shared his thoughts on the atmosphere within the squad and the players' mindset for the upcoming encounter.
Experience inspires rather than intimidates
Most LNZ footballers are stepping onto the pitch in international tournaments for the first time. However, as Didyk noted, the lack of experience does not cause fear. On the contrary, the team is maximally positive and views this challenge as an opportunity to prove their level.
«Gent» is a strong team with experienced players in every line. I think it will be interesting, but we are setting ourselves up positively», — emphasized the defender of the Chernihiv club.
Preparation without excess
Despite the high status of the tournament, the LNZ coaching staff did not change their usual training regime. The players are preparing for the duel in the standard planned order, just like for any other match in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL).
«I cannot say that there is any other preparation. We are preparing in our usual mode, just as each meeting took place in certain stages. To have some separate guidance for the game — no, we are just preparing as for an ordinary match in the UPL», — assured Didyk.
Call to fans
Separately, Roman Didyk addressed the fans. He expressed the hope that the war will end soon, and all teams of the Ukrainian Premier League will be able to play their European matches at home. But even now, the footballers invite fans to support them at tomorrow's game.
«I would like the war to end faster and for every team representing the Ukrainian Premier League to be able to play their European matches in Ukraine. But we invite everyone to tomorrow's match to come support us, so that we feel like at home», — stated the defender.
