Spanish fashion house Loewe has announced a collaboration with Disney and Tim Burton, resulting in a capsule collection inspired by the animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas. The line includes apparel, bags, accessories, scented candles, and leather goods. Sales of the collection start on November 12, 2026, making the release one of the most anticipated fashion events of the autumn.

Movie Characters in Leather, Knitwear, and Feathers

The brand's initial teasers showcased several key items: a bag featuring Jack Skellington inside, a black-and-orange woven leather pouch with snakes, and a knitted werewolf keychain. The image of the ghost dog Zero was also applied to a separate bag, and the Harlequin Demon was recreated using feathers and leather scales — a technique that emphasizes the theatricality of the character.

Craftsmanship as a Continuation of Stop-Motion Animation

One of the central themes of the collaboration is manual craft, where the film’s stop-motion animation meets the fashion house's artisanal techniques. According to Tim Burton, the Loewe designers “took things that mean a lot to me and gave them their own interpretation,” which underscores the artistic rather than purely decorative nature of the collaboration.

Continuing Loewe's Animation Line

For Loewe, this is not their first project with the world of animation. Previously, the house released collections based on Studio Ghibli films — My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. The new cooperation with Disney and Burton logically continues this line, extending it beyond Japanese animation toward the Western animation canon.

Context: The 1993 Film

The animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas was released in 1993. It was directed by Henry Selick, based on the story and characters created by Tim Burton. The main character, Jack Skellington, discovers the world of Christmas and attempts to take on the role of Santa Claus — a plot that has become one of the most recognizable stories in animation, frequently reappearing in pop culture and fashion.
