The situation on the logistical arteries connecting the peninsula to the mainland has intensified following a series of drone strikes. As a result of the attacks, the bridge near Chongar was damaged, forcing the occupying authorities to close traffic through the "Dzhankoy" vehicle checkpoint. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement by the so-called "governor" of the occupied part of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

Chain Reaction: From Chongar to the Arabat Spit

Problems with transport infrastructure are not limited to a single object. Saldo confirmed that night strikes were also carried out on the bridge connecting Henichesk with the Arabat Spit. Traffic on this route has also been blocked. According to a representative of the occupation administration, the danger of new drone attacks remains, so an assessment of the extent of the damage will only be carried out after the operational services give the go-ahead.

This is not an isolated incident, but part of a continuing series of attacks on key crossings:

  • June 7: The first strike on the Chongar Bridge occurred. After the attack, traffic across the crossing was restored, but only in reversible mode.
  • June 9: The bridge was hit by drones again, leading to a second stoppage of traffic. The occupying authorities were forced to recommend using alternative routes through Armenian and Perekop.
  • June 10: In the morning, on the occupied territory of the Kherson region, the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit was blocked. This became the second important crossing where traffic was suspended in recent days.

Consequences of Strikes and Damage Assessment

The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that after several drone attacks, the Chongar Bridge was completely destroyed. On the night of June 11, explosions were also heard in occupied Crimea. Local public pages reported fires in Simferopol and Sevastopol, as well as damage to bridges on the land approaches to the peninsula.

Already on June 13, the occupiers again claimed attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on bridges leading to Crimea. According to Saldo, drones struck the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit. After that, specialists inspected the structure. The repeated closure of key logistical nodes indicates the systemic nature of the problems facing the peninsula's infrastructure.
