New wave of strikes: Saratov refinery under fire
Ukrainian Defense Forces have carried out a large-scale operation to strike strategic targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his statement. The main event of the night was a strike on an oil refinery in Saratov, located in the Volga region.
According to the head of state, Ukrainian warriors applied so-called "long-range sanctions" against an industrial giant located approximately 700 kilometers from the front line. The enterprise is part of the "Rosneft" company structure and plays a key role in supplying fuel to the Russian army. A large-scale fire was confirmed at the plant.
Geography of strikes: from the Caspian to Central Russia
The operational work of Ukrainian defenders was not limited to one region. Zelenskyy summarized the weekly activity, noting that targets were hit in eight regions of the Russian Federation. Strikes were launched against objects in:
- Yaroslavl region;
- Ryazan region;
- Voronezh region;
- Volgograd region;
- Rostov region;
- Novgorod region;
- Nizhny Novgorod region;
- Krasnodar region.
In addition, successful strikes were recorded at a military base on the Caspian Sea. The President emphasized that the struck objects were located at distances from 300 to 1200 kilometers from the Ukrainian state border.
Strategy of asymmetric response
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are carrying out tasks in accordance with the approved priorities of the sanctions plan. In particular, Ukrainian drones have recently been increasingly attacking oil infrastructure objects. Earlier, on the night of May 30, a tanker in Taganrog and an oil depot in Armavir were hit.
The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is rightfully returning the war to where it came from. At the end of his message, Zelenskyy thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service, and intelligence agencies for the executed plan and achieved results.
