The situation in the modern world, characterized by global instability and armed conflicts, is exclusively anthropogenic in nature. This was the assertion made by the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. In his view, humanity itself has become the architect of current crises, rather than falling victim to external circumstances or divine will.
The 'Human Factor' as the Main Cause
Commenting on large-scale conflicts, including the war of Russia against Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East, Lukashenko emphasized human responsibility. In his statement, published by 'Pulem Pervogo', he stressed that the world is doomed to unrest precisely due to human errors and actions.
'The world is very unsettled right now precisely because of the human factor. God did not give us these wars; we brought them upon ourselves. Therefore, we must think about how to stop these wars,' declared the Belarusian leader.
The Solution Depends on the Will of a Few People
A key thesis of the speech was Lukashenko's conviction that resolving current geopolitical crises lies in the hands of a narrow circle of individuals. According to him, the cessation of hostilities depends literally on the desire of a few people. If political will is demonstrated, conflicts could be stopped within the current year.
The Belarusian leader paid special attention to the situation in the Middle East. He expressed confidence that this conflict will be resolved within 2024. In his reasoning, Lukashenko touched upon the role of the USA, stating that Americans were drawn into the conflict, and now US President Donald Trump is focused on ending it.
Context: Belarus's Role in the War Against Ukraine
It is important to note that Lukashenko's statements are made against the backdrop of Belarus being a strategic ally of Russia in the full-scale war against Ukraine. From the very beginning of the invasion, the territory of the republic has been used by Russian occupiers to conduct offensive operations.
The threat from the Belarusian direction remains relevant. On May 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia is considering the possibility of conducting new operations against Ukraine or NATO countries from the territory of Belarus. In particular, Kyiv fears an attack by Russian troops along the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction.
