In Lviv, utility company employees, including street sweepers and public transport drivers, are facing the risk of delayed wages. The situation was triggered by the suspension of payments by the State Treasury Service of Ukraine.

Reasons for Treasury Payment Stoppage

According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the State Treasury Service has blocked payments for transport operations and sanitary cleaning of the city. These specific funds are traditionally used to pay salaries to municipal sector workers. The total amount of frozen and unexecuted payments in Lviv's budget has currently exceeded 500 million hryvnias, creating a heavy burden on municipal infrastructure.

Consequences for City Infrastructure and Winter Preparation

Beyond the threat of unpaid wages for utility workers, the freezing of budget funds jeopardizes the city's preparations for the upcoming winter season. In addition, funding for medical and educational facilities, as well as urgent emergency and restoration work at sites damaged by regular missile attacks, is now at risk. The situation requires immediate intervention at the state level.

Government Negotiations and Mayor's Reaction

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi discussed the emerging crisis with the Prime Minister. According to the head of government, the measure is forced, and critical payments will be gradually unblocked and processed manually. The normalization of the payment process is expected to take up to one month. Against this backdrop, Andriy Sadovyi publicly decided to refuse his own salary until payments are fully restored for all municipal workers in Lviv.
