Ukrainian basketball player Anzhelika Lyashko has become the new leader of the national ranking in the 3x3 discipline, taking 46th place in the world standings. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing data from the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.
Rise after the World Championship
The decisive factor for the jump in the ranking was the successful performance of the 25-year-old athlete at the recent World Championship. Under the guidance of head coach Vitaliy Cherniy, the Ukrainian national team won three out of five matches, finishing in sixth place overall. For this tournament, Lyashko earned 7,410 points, bringing her total to 64,555 points.
Change of leader in the women's national team
Lyashko's leadership became possible against the backdrop of the forced absence of the current leader. Daryia Dubniuk, who started 2026 at the top of the national ranking, is missing matches due to recovery from a serious injury. Without playing practice in the current season, Dubniuk retained 63,629 points and dropped to 49th place in the world.
Currently, a total of eight basketball players from Ukraine are represented in the top 250 of the world women's ranking.
Men's national team and strategic tasks
In the men's discipline, Ukraine's representation in the top 250 is more modest — only two athletes have secured their spots here. The leader among men remains Vladyslav Mustyatsa with 126,347 points (170th place in the world). Second is Artem Lopukhov, who scored 88,053 points and occupies the 234th position.
The players have no time to rest: next week, the men's and women's national teams of Ukraine will start in the qualification matches for the European Championship. These matches are of strategic importance, as the world ranking is now calculated based on the last two years and directly affects the selection of national teams for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
