The cult Christmas comedy 'Home Alone' may get a sequel that will bring viewers back to the roots of the franchise. Macaulay Culkin, who played the legendary Kevin McCallister, is actively negotiating with Disney studio about filming a new movie. If the parties reach an agreement, the actor will return to the role for the first time in 35 years.
Meeting in Burbank and Studio Interest
Information about the possible project appeared thanks to journalist Matthew Belloni. According to his data, the 45-year-old Culkin was spotted at the Walt Disney studio in Burbank. There, the actor personally presented his concept for a continuation of the story to the producers. Studio representatives, according to an insider, were thrilled with the idea and are ready to offer the actor a contract.
"A few days ago, I received information about a very interesting find at the Disney studio: Macaulay Culkin was there. He was talking about his idea for a new 'Home Alone' movie, and Disney, one might say, is thrilled. They are offering the actor another film. I spoke to people who heard it, and it is indeed an excellent idea for a reboot of 'Home Alone' with Macaulay Culkin," Belloni shared with sources.
New Plot: Father vs. Son
Culkin's idea is radically different from previous sequels. Previously, the actor had already hinted that he was ready to return to the role if the script was deep enough. In the new version of the story, Kevin McCallister appears as an adult man, a father who, due to work, spends little time with his son.
The plot is built on reversed roles: the offended child locks the father behind the door and sets traps for him. Thus, the house becomes a metaphor for the complex relationships between generations. The main task of the adult Kevin will not be the physical protection of the home from burglars, but the restoration of trust and love in the family.
"I had this idea... I am either a widower or divorced. I am raising a child and all that. I work very hard, but I don't pay enough attention, and the child starts getting angry at me, and then they lock me out. My son won't let me home and sets traps for me," the actor described his plans.

Macaulay Culkin became famous thanks to the first two films: 'Home Alone' (1990) and 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York' (1992). These films became global hits and created a New Year's tradition for millions of viewers.
