According to RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by the Ukrainian president, the decision to award Macron was driven by his personal efforts in supporting Kyiv. Zelenskyy emphasized that relations between the two countries have reached a truly strategic level precisely due to the French leader's stance.
"Today, I thanked Emmanuel for his help and support over these years and awarded the President, a true friend of Ukraine, with the Order of Liberty," stated the head of the Ukrainian state. The award was presented against the backdrop of a solemn ceremony involving an honor guard, underscoring the high status of the event.
Discussion of Security Priorities
During the visit, the leaders of the two countries discussed key issues facing Ukraine. The central item on the agenda was the preparation for the meeting of the "Anti-Ballistic Coalition" and the "Coalition of the Willing."
