Mobile operator subscribers in Ukraine should be more attentive: a temporary suspension of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service is planned for late summer. Telecommunications operators will be unable to process requests to switch providers while retaining the phone number for several days.

This information was confirmed by the National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services (NCCER). The reason for the stoppage is the need to carry out scheduled maintenance of critical equipment.

Downtime dates and times

According to official data, the number portability service will be unavailable from 08:30 on June 29 until 17:30 on July 1, 2026. During this time, the technical infrastructure responsible for subscriber migration will be switched to maintenance mode.

Full access to the service will only be restored on July 2, 2026, at 08:30. During the specified time interval, subscribers will not be able to initiate the procedure of switching from one mobile operator to another.

Technical reasons and the role of the administrator

The decision to pause the service was made based on a request from the state enterprise "Ukrainian State Center for Radio Frequencies" (USCRF). It is this enterprise that acts as the administrator of the centralized database (CBD) of ported numbers.

USCRF is responsible for the technical operation of the database, monitors data exchange between various telecommunications operators, and ensures information security. Regular technical maintenance is required to maintain system stability and data security, which will be the cause of the temporary unavailability of the service.

What this means for subscribers

The number portability service allows users to change their mobile operator while retaining their familiar phone number and network code. This right is enshrined for subscribers, however, during the period of technical work, the opportunity to use it will be temporarily limited.

Experts recommend that those who planned to change operators during the specified period postpone the procedure to dates after July 2 to avoid delays in processing requests.
