Ukrainian blogger Marishka MDVSK, known by her real surname Zagoriya, posted an unboxing video on Instagram of the state "baby box" ("pakunok malyuka") that she chose instead of cash compensation. In the video and photos, the page owner showed clothes, hygiene products, and other items for a newborn, noting that her family has already started using some of the contents. According to her, the set turned out to be a successful choice since many items came in handy immediately after the birth of her son.

What was found in the large box

Inside the voluminous box, the blogger discovered diapers, wet wipes, bibs, socks, hygiene products, and other essential small items. The kit also included bodysuits of various sizes, caps, a blanket, waterproof swaddling cloths, towels, and a baby jumpsuit. Marishka separately showed bodysuits, tie-up caps, and snap-closure clothing, praising the quality of the items and noting that she plans to wash what the baby will need in the near future. Among other items in the bundle were an insulated set, a baby jumpsuit, and a book with information on child development from birth to one year.

What the family has already used

The blogger shared that part of the contents has already become part of the family's daily routine: the plaid blanket is in the baby stroller, and the small mattress is used in the crib. The kit also contained things that the family was lacking after the baby's birth. Specifically, Marishka admitted that they had few snap-closure bodysuits, which are more convenient to put on an infant — and in the box, she found a whole set of clothes in various sizes. She paid special attention to the towels: prior to this, the family did not have any for the baby, and one of the two has already been used during the child's bath.

The blogger's assessment and advice for future parents

At the end of the unboxing, Marishka advised future parents to pay attention to the "baby box". She noted that she initially expected to see mostly diapers in the set, but was pleasantly surprised by the variety of items. In her opinion, the contents of the box can turn out to be more valuable than the cash payment amount, although she did not make exact calculations. "I advised you for the future to take the 'baby box'", the blogger concluded.

How state assistance works

The "baby box" is a one-time in-kind assistance from the state for families with newborns. As stated on the website of the State Service of Ukraine for Children's Affairs, parents can choose a set of baby clothes or receive cash compensation instead. The kit includes over 90 items: clothing, swaddling cloths, blankets, a mattress, a towel, diapers, and hygiene products, while the specific contents may vary. In 2026, cash compensation of 8,451 hryvnias is available instead of the box, which is credited to a special account and used to purchase goods for the child.
