A large-scale sabotage operation has taken place in Mariupol, paralyzing the region's key logistics hub. As a result of a joint operation by Ukrainian units, the Mariupol Commercial Port has been completely de-energized and rendered non-functional. This event has dealt a significant blow to the logistical chains of Russian troops in the border area.

Operation Details and Participants

Official confirmation of the successful completion of the mission came from the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, "Azov." According to RBK-Ukraine, the operation was carried out in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies. The Main Directorate of the SBU in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the "A" Special Operations Center, and the Security Service of the Special Operations Forces (SSOF) participated in coordinating the actions.

Joint efforts allowed for the striking of a number of critical infrastructure objects that ensure the operation of the port and cargo transit.

Strike on the "Shadow Fleet"

Particular attention during the operation was paid to sea vessels used for cargo transportation. A separate target was the bulk carrier "Lady Augusta." According to sources, this vessel is part of Russia's so-called "shadow fleet" and is under international sanctions. During the attack, the bulk carrier was hit.

The attack on "Lady Augusta" was part of a broader campaign to neutralize vessels transporting strategic cargo. Earlier, on June 5, Ukrainian drones attacked five ships in the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk. All these ships were in a suspicious status: they sailed with radars turned off and names painted over, transporting grain, fuel, and military cargo.

Consequences for Infrastructure

The complete de-energization of the Mariupol Commercial Port marked the culmination of a series of attacks on the region's energy infrastructure. As early as June 8, a series of powerful explosions and a large fire at a substation were recorded in occupied Mariupol. The main target of that attack was also the energy system of the port area.

Now, following the new strike, the port is completely stopped. This creates serious difficulties for the Russian side, depriving it of the ability to use this hub for the transfer of resources and supplies.
