Ukrainian singer Masha Kondratenko, who for years consciously kept her personal life out of the public eye, has posed for a joint frame with her partner, director Yura Chaika, for the very first time. The couple became the cover stars of a new glossy magazine issue and spoke in an interview about how their relationship developed, what became a turning point for each of them, and why, according to the artist, they are "a very beautiful and very modest couple." The material was published on the lifestyle platform WAVE of the RBC-Ukraine project (wave.rbc.ua), and for the sensual photoshoot, the lovers chose Odesa — the city where their paths once crossed.
A step never taken before
For Kondratenko, the joint photoshoot was a conscious and, in her own words, important step: previously, the singer preferred not to publicize her close one or bring private moments into the public space. In the interview, she explained that now she "sometimes wants to share common moments," emphasizing that the decision came easily precisely because the couple feels comfortable next to each other. The choice of location — Odesa — is not accidental: it is in this city, according to the heroes, that their story began, and returning to it in the frame became a kind of circle closing the couple's personal narrative.
How the story began: a music video, friendship, and "befriending into love"
The couple shared that they met in 2022 while working on the singer's music video "Vedmedi-balalayky." At first, communication took place online, and then they met on the set in Odesa. Kondratenko described this period as a long friendship that gradually turned into something more: "We were friends for a long time and finally befriended our way into this," the artist noted with a smile. Thus, the relationship did not arise instantly, but was built through joint work and getting to know each other gradually.
Actions speak louder than words: a water heater and tools
In the interview, each of the couple named their "moment of realization." For the singer, it was the fact that Yura repaired her water heater: she explained that it is important for her not only to hear words of sympathy, but also to see actions showing care, calling this "a true value." For the director, the turning point was an episode after one of the shoots when he went to get tools to fix something in Masha's apartment, simultaneously ordering flowers for her and trying to make it before the curfew. "I just started automatically putting her comfort, her smile, and her peace above my own convenience for the first time," Chaika confessed, adding that next to Masha he felt the freedom to be himself for the first time, without portraying someone else or adapting to external expectations.
Trust, intimacy, and difficult moments
Aside from romance, the couple did not hide the difficulties: the lovers noted that they have different views on certain things, and finding mutual understanding sometimes turns out to be harder than admitting feelings. At the same time, both emphasized that trust and intimacy remain key in their relationship, and their readiness to work through differences is considered part of a mature couple. Ultimately, the photoshoot and interview became not just a glossy page, but a public statement from a couple who previously preferred to remain in the shadows — and Kondratenko's first step in sharing her personal story with the audience.
