On June 1, a tragedy occurred in the Donetsk region, serving as yet another reminder of the price of war for the civilian population. Russian forces launched an airstrike on the city of Druzhkivka, resulting in serious damage to residential districts and injuries to civilians.
According to information received by RBC-Ukraine from the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, high-precision munitions were used for the attack. The occupiers employed three FAB-250 aviation bombs equipped with universal glide and correction modules (UMPK). It was these means of destruction that caused the damage to the multi-story apartment buildings.
Consequences of the strike and casualties
As a result of the attack, at least five multi-story apartment buildings sustained damage of varying severity. The residential stock, which became the target, turned into ruins, while windows and balconies of many apartments were blown out by shrapnel.
Five civilians were killed or injured. Among them were men and women aged between 20 and 68. Doctors diagnosed the victims with severe blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, bruises, and concussions. Four men and one woman were hospitalized for emergency care.
Criminal proceedings and investigation
Under the procedural supervision of the Kramatorsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has already been launched. The case was opened for a war crime, according to Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators are working to establish all the circumstances of the attack and document the damage.
Strikes on Zaporizhzhia
On the same day, in the morning of June 1, an escalation of violence was also recorded in the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian forces struck the city of Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, a private residential house was damaged.
The tragedy affected a 73-year-old woman who sustained injuries. At the scene, rescuers, medical personnel, and other emergency services worked to provide the victim with necessary assistance.
