Ukraine has faced a double blow: natural disasters and enemy aggression have simultaneously disrupted energy stability in several regions. Overnight and in the morning, a massive missile and drone attack swept across the country, primarily targeting energy infrastructure. The situation was exacerbated by bad weather — thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind that hit the country left nearly 70 settlements without power across four regions.
Energy Collapse and Rescue Operations
The most difficult situation arose in the morning in the Sumy region, where the largest number of consumers were left without electricity. However, other regions were also affected. In particular, new power outages were recorded in Kyiv, where energy facilities of the company DTEK were damaged as a result of the overnight shelling.
Representatives of the energy generating company reported that some residents of the capital are still without power. As soon as safety conditions allowed, emergency crews went to the sites of impact. Energy workers are working non-stop, striving to restore electricity supply to all subscribers as quickly as possible.
Casualties and Destruction in Kyiv
The consequences of the overnight attack on the Ukrainian capital turned out to be severe. The number of casualties from the strikes has risen to 86 people, of whom 13 died. Rescue services continue to work at the scene of the incidents, trying to find people under the rubble of damaged residential buildings. The situation remains tense, and the search for the missing continues.
Consequences for Urban Infrastructure
The destruction of the power system and damage to the contact network led to the disruption of public transport. In Kyiv, bus and trolleybus routes were temporarily changed due to the lack of power supply. This created additional difficulties for residents trying to get to work or home.
Call for Rational Consumption
Experts and representatives of energy companies are calling on the population to use resources rationally. Reducing the load on the network reduces the risk of having to introduce forced power restrictions. In the conditions of ongoing attacks and emergency situations, every kilowatt counts.
