On the night of June 2, Russia launched one of the largest combined strikes on Ukrainian territory. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 700 air offensive weapons were used simultaneously — 73 missiles and 656 drones of various types. The main target of the attack was Kyiv, but Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava region, and other areas were also hit.

Course of the attack and air defense actions

As of 08:30, the Ukrainian air defense system had destroyed 642 targets: 40 missiles and 602 drones. Among the downed drones were Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas strike aircraft, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodia decoys. Despite the active work of the air defense, 33 missiles and 33 strike drones hit 38 locations. Debris from downed drones fell on another 15 territories.

Consequences of the attack

As a result of the night strike, people were killed and injured in several Ukrainian cities. In Kyiv, four people were killed and 58 were injured. In Dnipro — five killed and 25 injured. In Kharkiv, 10 people were injured, including a child. Exact data on the dead and injured in other regions is still being verified.

Repeat strike on Kyiv

In the morning of June 2, according to RBC-Ukraine, Russia launched a repeat strike with ballistic missiles on the capital. A series of loud explosions were heard in the city, and residents were urgently urged to immediately take shelter in bomb shelters. The attack was ongoing at the time of the briefing — active strike drones remained in the airspace.

The photo, provided by the KPZSU channel, shows the aftermath of the attack: destroyed buildings, structural debris, and rescue services at work. The situation remains tense; authorities urge citizens to follow safety measures and stay in shelters until official reports confirm the end of the threat.
