On the night of July 6, Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale strike from Russia. The attack, which began at 18:00 on July 5 and continued throughout the night, was one of the most intense in recent times. According to the radio technical troops of the Air Force, 419 air attack assets were recorded.
Scale and Composition of the Attack
Russia employed a wide range of weaponry: strike drones and missiles from air, land, and sea bases. Among the drones were Shahed models, "Gerbera", "Italmas", and "Parody" simulators. Launches were carried out from several directions, complicating the work of the air defense system.
Air Defense Operations
To repel the attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the defense forces were deployed. According to preliminary data as of 08:30, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or suppressed 363 targets.
Among the destroyed targets were 31 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 6 Kalibr missiles. There were also 29 ballistic, including anti-ship, missiles, and 18 strike drones. Debris from shot-down drones was detected at 16 locations.
Consequences in Kyiv
The main strike hit the capital of Ukraine — Kyiv. According to RBC-Ukraine, 11 people were killed and another 46 were injured as a result of the attack. Traffic on some streets in the city had to be blocked due to the consequences of the hits. Changes were also made to the operation of public transport.
The situation remains tense. Rescue services continue to work to eliminate the consequences of the attack, and authorities are urging the population to observe safety precautions.
