On the night of July 12, Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale air attack by Russia. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy deployed 13 missiles and 115 combat unmanned aerial vehicles. Air defense (Air Force) forces repelled the attack, shooting down the vast majority of targets, however, hits were recorded in several settlements.

Course of the attack repulsion

Airspace protection was carried out comprehensively: fighter aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, unmanned system operators, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces participated in the fight against threats.

As of 08:30 in the morning, the following preliminary data on the results of the Air Force's work were received:

  • 7 Kh-59/69 guided air-to-surface missiles were shot down or suppressed.
  • 95 enemy drones were destroyed in the north, south, center, and east of the country.
  • The fall of debris from destroyed targets was recorded at 12 locations.

Impacts and consequences

Despite the active work of the Air Force, the enemy managed to strike a number of objects. The impact of 2 Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 19 combat drones was recorded at 12 different locations. In addition, it is reported that anti-radiation missiles Kh-31 did not reach their targets, however, this information requires clarification.

The Air Force warned that the attack is continuing, and enemy unmanned aircraft remain in the airspace. The population is strongly advised to follow safety rules.

Strikes on cities

Special attention during the night attack was paid to a number of major cities. Russian combat drones attacked Kharkiv and Dnipro. In both settlements, hits on civilian infrastructure objects were recorded, which led to fires and casualties among civilians.

It is worth noting the situation in Kryvyi Rih separately. The city was subjected to a double attack by combat drones. The first strike already claimed the lives of two people, after which the occupiers launched a second strike on the city, trying to aggravate the consequences.
