The night of June 13 became a time of large-scale aerial assault for Ukraine. The Russian side organized a massive strike, during which 118 unmanned aerial vehicles were deployed. Ukraine's air defense forces repelled the attack, shooting down the overwhelming majority of enemy machines, although incidents involving hits and falling debris were still recorded.

Scale and Types of Weapons Used

According to data from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published on the department's Telegram channel, the attack was of a combined nature. In the airspace of Ukraine, strike drones of the Shahed type (including jet modifications), "Gerbera" and "Italmas" drones, as well as "Banderyol" loitering munitions were detected. In addition, "Parody" type decoy drones participated in the attack, designed to overload the air defense system with false targets.

Directions of the Attack

Drones launched from several directions, covering the north, south, and east of the country. The main launch points were Russian territories: Orel, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The threat also came from temporarily occupied territories: Donetsk, Hvardiiske, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Air Defense Operations and Results of Repulsion

All available defense means were deployed to repel the strike: aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

As of 08:30 on the morning of June 13, preliminary data indicates high effectiveness of the actions of Ukrainian defenders:

  • 110 enemy drones of various types were shot down or suppressed.
  • 3 hits by strike drones were recorded at three locations.
  • Falling debris from shot-down drones was recorded at six locations.

Current Situation and Warnings

Despite the successes of the air defense, the situation remains tense. The Air Forces of Ukraine warned that the attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones are still in the airspace. Citizens are strongly advised to follow safety rules and not leave shelters.

This wave of attacks occurred against the backdrop of warnings that were heard as early as June 12. On that day, the Air Forces warned of a high probability of a strike by the "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missile. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also urged citizens to be maximally vigilant in the coming days and not to ignore air raid alarms.
