Massive Strike from Seven Directions
On the night of June 27, Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale air attack. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia launched 129 attack unmanned aerial vehicles at the country's territory. The attack was carried out simultaneously from seven different directions, indicating a coordinated nature of the operation.
The source of information on the event was the RBC-Ukraine agency, citing official statements from military departments. The attack was conducted using a wide range of drones, including "Shahed" models (including jet modifications), "Gerbera", "Italmas", as well as "Parodia" type decoy drones.
Geography of the Strike and Countermeasures
The attack was carried out from the following directions:
- Kursk, Bryansk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF);
- Millerovo (RF);
- Guardiansk (Territory occupied in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea);
- Territory occupied in the Donetsk region.
To repel the threat, all available air defense forces were deployed. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, participated in the fight against enemy drones.
Air Defense Operation Results
As of 08:30 on the morning of June 27, the Ukrainian air defense system demonstrated high efficiency. Preliminary data indicate that 113 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down or neutralized. The destruction of equipment occurred in the north, south, and east of the country.
Despite the successful repulsion of the main wave, incidents of drone hits were recorded. 13 attack drones fell on seven locations within the territory of Ukraine. In addition, debris from shot-down aircraft fell on three other objects.
Warning for the Population
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the air attack is ongoing, and enemy drones are still in the sky. Citizens are advised to strictly follow safety rules and remain in shelters until the air raid alarm is officially lifted.
Situation in Zaporizhzhia
The situation in Zaporizhzhia deserves special attention. The city was attacked twice within 24 hours: first during the day on June 26, and then late in the evening of the same day. As a result of the new shelling, damage and casualties were recorded in the city. Military personnel continue to monitor the situation and repel enemy attempts to strike infrastructure and populated areas.
