On the night of July 8, Ukraine was subjected to a massive strike from Russia. The attack involved anti-radar and ballistic missiles, strike drones, as well as decoy drones. The country's airspace was threatened from several directions.
Where the Targets Came From
According to intelligence and monitoring data, enemy drones and missiles were launched from the Black Sea area, as well as from the territory of occupied Crimea. Additionally, launches were recorded from the Bryansk region, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and from Russian-controlled parts of the Donetsk region — in particular, from Donetsk and Gvardeysk.
Air Defense Results
As of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 139 drones of various types. These included widely used Shahed drones, as well as newer models such as "Gerbera" and "Italmas". Shootdowns occurred in the north, south, and east of the country, indicating a wide operational coverage for airspace protection.
Additionally, two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles were intercepted before reaching their targets. This confirms the effectiveness of radar systems and air defense fire control systems.
The Attack Continues
Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine press service reported that the air threat persists: enemy drones are still in the sky over the country. Operations to detect and destroy them continue in real time.
Consequences for Kyiv
Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported on the consequences of the night shelling of the capital. Russia attempted to attack Kyiv with drones twice, but the city's air defense systems prevented serious damage. Nevertheless, residents of the capital and other cities remain on high alert.
