Technology giant Meta has unveiled a new line of smart glasses — Meta Glasses. Unlike previous models released under the Ray-Ban or Oakley brands, this time the company has partnered with optical manufacturer EssilorLuxottica, opting out of traditional branding.

Functionality Without a Screen

Meta Glasses do not feature a built-in display, but they include a camera and personal speakers. A dedicated button on the frame activates the Meta AI voice assistant by default — though it can be reconfigured for other tasks.

Battery Life and Design

The built-in battery provides over 8 hours of continuous use. The portable charging case adds up to 40 additional hours — totaling up to 48 hours of autonomy.

At launch, three frame models are available:

  • Meta Adventurer — rectangular shape, available in standard and large sizes.
  • Meta Fury — bold square frame, designed for a masculine style.
  • Meta Glasses by Kylie — sleek oval model, created in collaboration with Kylie Jenner.

Upcoming Features

Developers promise to add pedestrian navigation — offering step-by-step voice guidance during walks. Additionally, real-time translation will support 14 new languages: Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Korean, and others.

Competition and Pricing

Meta Glasses launched just one week after Snap’s Specs smart glasses. However, pricing strategies differ significantly: Meta Glasses start at $299, while Snap’s Specs begin at $2,195, positioning themselves in the premium segment.
