Amidst martial law, Kyiv continues large-scale work on the development and restoration of the city's transport infrastructure. The Mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, in an interview with the "Kyiv" TV channel, revealed details of current projects aimed at maintaining the life of the metropolis and ensuring the safety of citizens.

Reconstruction of Key Arteries

The priority for the city administration remains bringing roads, bridges, and overpasses into proper condition. Special attention is paid to the repair of the Metro Bridge. Despite the fact that the object is one of the busiest transport arteries of the city, where traffic flows and metro lines intersect, work is being carried out without blocking traffic.

Separately, Klitschko touched on the topic of the reconstruction of the Paton Bridge. Previously, the project was transferred to the Reconstruction Agency, however, according to the mayor, the work was not carried out, and the object was returned in an even worse state, which led to a loss of time. Now, city services are taking control of the process to maintain the functioning of the huge infrastructure.

Metro: Transport and Protection

In the current situation, the Kyiv metro performs a dual function. In addition to transporting passengers, the stations of the system serve as a reliable shelter for residents during enemy attacks on the capital. This is why accelerating the pace of construction of new lines is critically important.

Active work is underway on the "Vynohradar" line. Klitschko noted that some new stations of this branch will be practically completed in the near future. This will not only relieve the transport network but also create additional protected zones for the population.

Construction of the Troieshchyna Branch

Progress has also been recorded in the construction of the metro to Troieshchyna. A key stage was the completion of work on the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi bridge crossing, which was under construction for 20 years. Traffic on the object has already been opened, and three stations of the future branch have already been built inside the bridge tube.

The next step will be the construction of the underground part of the line. However, the mayor admitted that in wartime conditions, it is impossible to accurately name the completion dates of the project. Vitali Klitschko emphasized that immediately after the end of hostilities, the implementation of this part of the program will be accelerated as much as possible.

New Routes

The development of the transport network is not limited to large infrastructure projects only. For Kyiv Day, a new bus route No. 58 was launched. It connects the "Exhibition Center" metro station with the entrance to the Museum of Folk Life in Pyrohiv, ensuring convenient access to the city's cultural sites.
